Kitchen Display System (KDS)

Real-time order management for your kitchen — access, order status, priorities, and tips for your team

Kitchen Display System (KDS)

The Kitchen Display System gives your kitchen staff a real-time view of incoming orders. When a customer places an order, it appears on the KDS screen instantly — no paper tickets needed.

Accessing KDS

  1. Open your browser and go to kds.yourstore.hayyaeats.sy (replace yourstore with your store's name)
  2. Log in with a staff account that has KDS access

If KDS is not available for your store, you'll see a message explaining why. This usually means your current plan doesn't include KDS.

Order Statuses

Orders move through a clear set of stages in the KDS:

  1. New (Yellow) — Order just came in, not yet acknowledged
  2. Preparing (Blue) — Kitchen is working on it
  3. Ready (Green) — Order is done, waiting for pickup or serving
  4. Delivering (Purple) — Out for delivery (delivery orders only)
  5. Completed (Gray) — Order fulfilled
  6. Cancelled (Red) — Order was cancelled

How to Update Order Status

In the KDS screen, simply click on an order and select the next status. For example, when you start cooking, change it from "New" to "Preparing". When it's ready to serve, change it to "Ready".

You can only move forward one step at a time — you can't skip from "New" directly to "Ready".

For Dine-In Orders

When you mark a dine-in order as "Completed", the customer's table is automatically freed for the next guest.

For Delivery Orders

Delivery orders go through an extra step: after "Ready", they move to "Delivering" when a driver picks them up, then "Completed" when the customer receives them.

Priority and Timing

Orders are shown in order of priority:

  1. New orders appear at the top
  2. Older orders appear before newer ones
  3. Dine-in vs delivery may be sorted differently

The KDS shows how long each order has been waiting and uses color coding:

  • Green — Recently placed, on track
  • Yellow — Getting close to target time
  • Red — Order is taking longer than expected

Multiple Kitchen Screens

You can run KDS on multiple devices in your kitchen — on a tablet near the grill, another near the cold station, and a big screen for the expediter. Each screen shows the full order queue.

Simply log in on each device with a staff account that has KDS access.

Real-Time Updates

Orders appear on the KDS automatically without needing to refresh the page. When one staff member updates an order status, it changes on all KDS screens instantly.

Tips for Kitchen Staff

  1. Acknowledge orders quickly — Change status from "New" to "Preparing" as soon as you start working on an order
  2. Watch the timer — Red means an order has been waiting too long
  3. Mark ready promptly — This signals to servers and drivers that the order is ready for pickup
  4. Complete dine-in orders — This frees the table for the next customer
